READS RINGS |
I, of course, sometimes let my kids watch cartoons. I think they own about every animated film ever made. But I also like to get them into shows or movies with some educational value. Not documentaries, but things like "Dances With Wolves," where they can learn about Indians without realizing they are learning. So, during chores, I turned on the soundtrack from "Nell" and I have been thinking it might be a good movie for them to see, to learn about appreciating differences in people. Because, you know, having a mom in a wheelchair wouldn't do that. Anyhow, Sister Golden Hair, my almost 9 year old, asked me what the first song was called. "I don't know," I said. "It's from the "Nell" soundtrack." "Oh. I like that movie," she tells me. "You've seen "Nell"?" "Yeah. It's the one where she shows her boobs in a store. She didn't know it was wrong." So close. |
