GUESTBOOK

This morning, Trusty had to open the shop at 8 a.m., so he was up and at 'em way too early for my tastes. I (wo)manned the phone from my warm bed for twenty minutes until he got to work. In that time, I got up to pee. Sister Glitz surprised me at the door as I was leaving the potty room. "Sister Golden Hair Surprise isn't awake yet," she said quietly. I sleepily muttered something to the effect that neither was I and neither was she because we were going back to sleep. I went to the living room to retrieve the notebook, lest some idiot rouse me from my slumber for a towing "emergency" and require me to get up. I noticed that it was not even what I'd call light outside. Then I noticed that Sister Glitz was following me closely, as if she were expecting me to do a trick that she wasn't about to miss. I hissed at her to go back to bed. She asked for a drink of water and I may have mistakenly given her some moonshine as she is still sleeping.

It was dark, man. And these are the chances you take when you get me up early.

Bits of fire in the sky push me east back home. I used to live in flames but it's hard on the wings. Choke me. Smoke me. Scare me back. You try but you just can't. I peel the layers in my spare time, and you're easy to see through. I can fly, I've discovered on my own. I may be the lesser butterfly but my wings are just as strong. Who are you to tell me to find a place to land? I may be the lesser butterfly but baby watch me glide.
