READS RINGS |
I admit to watching daytime tv (i.e. my soaps and Montel) while I do my housework. However, I have been sick since Tuesday, so watching tv has been about all the 'housework' I have accomplished this week. Oh, shut up. I folded some laundry. Anyway, yesterday, I was half paying attention to a young man on Montel who was about to meet his father for the first time. Montel asked the young man what he most wanted to ask his father. The young man replied that most of all, he wanted to know why his father had left and continually missed opportunities to get to know him. However, said the young man, his mother had done well as a single parent; he did not do drugs, drink or smoke. He proudly declared himself a "raised-well young man." Oh for god's sake. The Montel show spends money to fly in the guests, put them in hotels, do their hair and make-up, and more often than not, get the guests counselling in their home towns. How about they spend some money on basic grammar lessons? At least for what they'll be saying on national television. I, for one, greatful would be. |
